How do i play a video clip that won't open in my video players?

hi. i downloaded a video clip, but i can't open it even if i used different video players (VLC, Windows Media Player, FLV player). the file type of the video is "video clip." when i use windows media player, it says "error downloading codec." is there a universal video player that i can use other than VLC?

If your videos aren't playing properly, I'd recommend that you download the latest version of Windows Media Player from-

If some videos don't play on the windows media player, then the problem would mostly be because your computer doesn't have the video codecs required to play that video.
